I’m someone that looks for signs in my everyday life. I believe that signs are all around us and let us know whether our lives are on track or heading for disaster.
Signs do not always have to be something vague that you need to figure out. They can sometimes appear in plain sight.
Recently I’ve spotted a beautiful flowered tree everywhere I travel. I know I have seen it in past years, but for some reason this year I have been drawn to it. I don’t know what it is called, but I figured at some point I would stop by a nursery and describe it and maybe they could tell me.
Everyday that I have driven past them the desire grew. I had to have this tree. It’s beautiful white flowers, huge green leaves and the amazing texture of its bark. I need it!
My husband thought I was crazy when I mentioned to him that I wanted to get a tree. Much of our property is still overgrown and needs lots of care. Why start planting things when we can’t control what we have just yet? I thought about it and he was right. We have so much crap growing everywhere I suppose I can wait.
Then one day while in my sons room, I looked down and there it was-my tree! Flowers and all! I have had it this whole time. We have lived in this house for 7 years and every year I made my husband cut down “that weed”. It was usually the first thing to go, but this year we made a plan of what we were going to work on and just left it. The one thing I wanted so much had been right here in plain sight. I had never given it a chance to bloom. Imagine my surprise.
So- you are wondering where I’m going with this story. For me, this was sign to sit back and enjoy what I have right now in my life. I plan on taking the time to cultivate my relationships and watch my children grow beautiful and strong. There is nothing that I can buy that can give me the pleasure of what I already have in my life.
Tip: Take some time and look around your home and see what you can do to make things more pleasurable. Move the furniture, clear your spaces, hang up photos- you really don’t need anything, but what you already have- the rest will come in time.
