The first time I ever had to deal with plumbing repairs was about 10 years ago when we first purchased our home. At the time it was a two family house and we had rented the upstairs apartment which always seemed to have a slow drain in the shower/tub upstairs. Well, it became a problem when our tenant let us know that he was now standing in water while he was showering. My husband, who is quite handy, snaked out the drain several times. The previous tenant was a young lady with long red hair, which we were reminded of everytime he snaked the drain. Finally, that didn’t work anymore either. As new homeowners we weren’t sure who to call, and placed a call to the woman that sold us the house. She recommended RotoRooter. She said she had been using them for years. I remembered the jingle from the commercial and placed my call.
They not only cleaned my drain out, but were neat and polite. They also have a guarantee which made me feel better about using them over someone I didn’t know in the phone book. The cost, I thought was very reasonable considering that it came with a guarantee. I used them again several years later on my toilet downstairs. I received the same great service as before, and some advice on how to avoid a similar problem.
Here is what I learned from my plumbing experience:
1. If you have long hair or are renting an apartment installing a simple screen over the drain pipe helps catch any unwanted hair from going down your drain.
2. Clean all of your hair out of the shower and throw it away. Do not just push it down the drain!
3. Do not put the blue gel thing in your toilet tank! This one cost me. I was told that it can clog up your system which it did.
Disclosure:I am participating in a blogger campaign for Bucks2Blog about plumbing
repair and was compensated. However, the views and opinions are my own.
