MomSense: A Common-Sense Guide to Confident Mothering embraces motherhood through common sense and intuition, or as the title states “Mom Sense”. Written by Jean Blackmer, publishing manager for MOPS International (MOPS=Mothers of Preschoolers) this book shares stories and practical advice on parenting. I laughed, boy did I laugh while reading this book. I saw myself in so many of the stories. I wish I would have had this book earlier in my parenting career. It would have helped that feeling of being alone, knowing that other moms had that thought or made that mistake. With chapters covering, patience, respect, consistency, perspective, self-control, calm, joy, and love the stories help the reader embrace their intuition and be more confident in their parenting. I have really enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it to any new mother navigating her way through early childhood. Also, to any mom wanting some validation in their choices and ways to parent. You’ll laugh I promise. Now, just a warning, there is quite a bit of Bible quotes and christian references for those of you that get turned off by such. The book does not state this on the cover anywhere so I’m telling you here.

The best thing about MomSense for me was a reminder that I don’t necessarily need to follow every piece of parenting advice. God gifted me to be the best mother for my children. I can be the best mom possible by honing in on my own MomSense. I love the concept!
