Who are the StinkyKids? They are little stinkers who make right choices! They also are adorable soft bodied dolls that come with their own trading card. You’d have your own trading card too if your story was published in an award winning book! StinkyKids and the Runaway Scissors won the Mom’s Choice Silver Award honoring excellence. The book features 10 diverse characters (little stinkers) each with their own unique qualities.
How do I know so much about StinkyKids? I had the pleasure of attending a blogger event at the Alexander Doll Company, home of Madame Alexander dolls. My two boys and I had the pleasure of being introduced to StinkyKids by no other then their creator Britt Menzies. The event actually started off with a bang when my son immediately walked over to the table covered in StinkyKids and asked if he could have one. You really couldn’t have planned that one better. In a room filled with so many dolls he walked right over and fell in love with StinkyKid Max! More on that later…
Mom, Britt Menzies started all of this just from a simple drawing her daughter wanted and now it just keeps growing! With two books, StinkyKids and the Runaway Scissors and StinkyKids See a Full Moon, a full line of diverse plush dolls and a musical coming to New York March 2012 this mom has her hands full!
One of my favorite things about this brand is the lesson that it teaches children. StinkyKids help children learn to make the right choices and reminds them to “Always be a Leader of Good”. Their lessons are ones we learned while growing up and the mishaps that our little ones get into now. It’s about innocence and learning how to make the right choices. No kid is perfect, we all make mistakes and then we move on to do better next time. I love this message of being a leader of good!
So, how did my boys like their experience with StinkyKids? Fantastic! The stories and characters are appealing for both boys and girls. My son’s each picked their own doll. Noah picked Hannah and Owen picked Max. These two characters hiked all over the city with us. They rode the subway and even took a ferry. These boys were not putting these dolls down. I think my youngest even looks like Max a bit! Another cool fact about the StinkyKids is, each character was created after someone the author knows. The trading cards also contain that person characteristics and what they’d like to be when they grow up. Britt, if you ever want to make a StinkyKid that wants to grow up to be a blogger I’m your girl!
