Well, we have two different types of snow days. The first is the one that happens when there is school and the other is on the weekend. It honestly depends on what your lifestyle is like as to which you prefer. Personally, I love a snow day during the school week. It’s like a surprise gift for my kids and myself. Here is a sample of what my weekday snow day looks like:
1. Sometimes we’ll stay in our pj’s all day, but mostly we just get dressed later.
2. I’ll usually make hot chocolate and a big breakfast.
3. Then I’ll let the kids run around have some free play while I clean things up.
4. This is when I’ll pull out a craft project. I save any crafty items that the kids get for gifts for these occasions.
One of my boys received this snow globe kit for Christmas, thankfully it made two globes. This was a great snow day project.
5. For a treat I’ll let them eat lunch in front of the TV (this is usually a no no in my house, so it’s a big treat.) We’ll watch a movie together.
6. Then we’ll bake something together, cookies, brownies, cupcakes, whatever I have handy.
7. And of course, during the day we have some fun in the snow.
8. Then at some point we”ll catch up on homework and do some reading.
Personally, I love being snowed in with my boys. I guess because I get to play snow day, too. Someday this too shall pass and they’ll just want to lock themselves in their rooms and text! I’m going to enjoy every single flake of snow while I can.
I hope this gives you a glimpse of how to deal with a snow day and have fun with it!
