Have you ever just walked up to someone and said, “Hey, I love your shirt?” I know I have and it’s happened to me, whether it be a shirt, bag or other item. Fashion gives us an opportunity to open up conversations at times we never would have had in the first place. Just for that reason Ohiya was created. Ohiya is the art of making friends. It’s a magical land of cute, crass and friendly characters. Each have a different message and personality and they encourage people to extend themselves beyond there own personal boundaries.
This cast of imaginative characters are the brainchild of Ohio-based illustrator Jason Tharp. A self-proclaimed “obsessive dreamer,” Tharp’s mission for Ohiya is to encourage others to simply say, “Hi” to one another. “A chance encounter can suddenly turn into something meaningful, all with the help of this simple two letter word,” Tharp proclaims. “This brand is all about the art of making friends.” And so, the “o-HI-ya” brand identity was born.
There is a character that connects with everybody. My favorites are the Zombuddiez! They also carry a line of posters, canvas prints and plushies so you can fully decorate with your favorite characters from Ohiya. You can check out all these items at the Ohiya store online. have some fun!
