Isn’t he cute? That’s my baby on vacation. As school ends for us this is the last time he will be a Kindergartner. My little guy is officially a first grader. I’m so happy and proud of him, as I am of my other boy that is now going into third grade. So, much drama this week. Parents seem to be taking the transition hard, but not me. After all, my job as a parent is get them ready to be adults. We laugh, learn and love each other to death. Growing up is just a part of it and I don’t mourn for the loss of my baby. He’s growing into a fine boy. As much as I dislike the thought of him growing up and getting his heartbroken, I know he will get to experience some amazing things. For now, I get all my hugs, kisses and night time snuggles in because they too will be gone within a blink of an eye. Here we go:
This week I learned that:
10. someone, somewhere is always going to try to tell you to do it their way. ( As if it was the only way!)
9. a real hero doesn’t save the day for praise. They do it because it’s the right thing to do. ( Think about that before you go patting yourself on the back in public.)
8. you never know who is going to pull through for you at the last minute when you need it. ( Be careful before you burn any bridges.)
7. I’m very thankful that I’m able to buy my kids books at the thrift store for end of the year gifts and have them be happy. ( Sure they are 6 and 8, but they are happy. That’s all that counts.)
6. it’s better to just face your fears than let them fester. ( Just like a ripping a band-aid off quickly!)
5. sometimes you need to ask for exactly what you want instead of waiting for your wish to be fulfilled. ( Can’t go any further with this one or I might get busted!)
4. the heat drives my husband wild-wink-wink. ( I really just can’t have anyone near me when it’s hot! Let alone….)
3. people feel sorry for me that I have no air conditioning. ( Save your pity folks. It’s our choice. )
2. I still can’t figure out the attraction of Twitter parties. ( I think I’m missing something and need help!)
1. the saying, ” You can’t teach old dogs new tricks.” Should actually be, ” The old dog will only learn new tricks if they want too. ( Enough said.)
Have a great weekend! A storm just passed through here and I’m finally enjoying a nice breeze. See ya!
