Owen crawls into bed with us well past midnight and he’s crying. As he chokes back the tears he tells us that he had an awful dream and he’s scared. He wouldn’t stop crying till I held him and rocked him in my arms. So the next day I sought to find out what had happened last night. Here is what transpired:
O: Owen (6)
M: Me (Old)
M: So, you had a bad dream last night buddy?
O: Yes, I was so scared.
M: Do you remember what it was about?
O: Yes, I woke up and I had to go potty, but I wasn’t in our house. I was in a house just like ours. I had a shell with the letter S on it in my hand. It fell into the toilet and the toilet flushed. I know that I will never see my shell again because if something goes down the toilet it never comes back. I was so sad. I will never see my shell again. That’s why I came into your room. I was so so sad and I wanted you to hold me.
I gave my cute little bug a hug. When I left his room I laughed to myself about his “nightmare”. This little guy hasn’t even learned about the beast that lurk. I hope he doesn’t for awhile.
