This mom was lucky enough to attend a private screening of Here Comes The Boom with TheMoms.com. The actors Kevin James and Henry Winkler then joined us for a brief interview and chat about the film. The film comes to theaters on October 12Th and you should not miss this one. It’s more than a comedy. This by far is my favorite trailer of the film, so take a peek:
It’s the story of a teacher that has given up, but then becomes inspired to save the music department and in turn saves himself. I laughed so hard, but I also was moved to tears a few times. I suppose you can say that I was inspired as well. So were many others in the audience. I discovered that fact during the Q & A with the actors. I also had no idea that Kevin James co-wrote the film as well. He specifically wanted to work Henry Winkler on this one. As, he felt that Winkler could play the part of the music teacher in a way that would touch the audience.
During the interview the actors playfully teased each other, I don’t think Henry Winkler will ever stop being known as The Fonz. He graciously went along with it and seemed to enjoy being an icon. Both of the actors also expressed great admiration for each other and talked about what they learned from working on this film together. Henry Winkler also told us that the children’s band in the film was real and when filming had concluded Kevin James gifted them with all the new instruments they had used during filming. Wow! Kevin James let us know that Winkler spent his time talking to everyone! He was a pleasure to work with and even nailed some one take scenes. James believes that no other actor could have played the role like Winkler. You could see that these guys were a team. Another interesting fact to note, Kevin James let us know right off that bat that he had lost 80 pounds during the filming of Here Comes The Boom. The movie was filmed a year ago and he has since put most of the weight back on. He says he loves food and he’s good with it! Watching them during the interview you could see why they share a great on screen chemistry. It was pleasure to be in their company.
So, if you are looking for a movie to see this weekend go see Here Comes The Boom! I promise you won’t regret it!
Disclosure: I received free tickets to the screening and attended the interview. All thoughts, laughs and tears are my own! I have not been compensated.
