The Review:
You’ve all heard, “Let food be thy medicine.” and I firmly believe in that statement. In this easy to follow guide you learn several things, by looking up foods in alphabetical order we can begin to not only identify what their health benefits are, but in what ways they can be harmful. We learn how to probably buy certain items, how they should be stored and even how they should be eaten to gain the maximum benefit. For example, I didn’t know that the leaves on a celery stalk are the most nutritious part of the plant! I have juiced them and used them in the soup making process, but not for any other reason. I found that interesting. Another feature is a table in the beginning of the book that lists vitamins and minerals, how much we need, where we can find them in food, what they do and what can happen if we are lacking. I have been prone to low B-12 and vitamin D so this was of particular interest to me.
Towards the end of the book you can actually look up particular ailments and find suggestions on what foods to avoid and what foods might actually be healing. I also liked that the book mentioned keeping a food diary. as someone that has had issues with food knows, it can tell you alot about what you are eating and how you are feeling. While the book doesn’t claim to heal you, it can be a step in the right direction for anyone trying to live a healthy lifestyle. We all now that better living comes better eating and this guide can answer a lot of questions. For this mom, Foods that Harm, Foods that Heal, Revised and Updated: The Best and Worst Choices to Treat your Ailments Naturally should be on everyones book shelf.

This is really interesting. I try to avoid certain foods and eat more of others to help with an auto-immune disease that I have. This is definitely a book that interests me.
