About CWIST:
CWIST is a new incentive-based digital platform where parents and educators can share ideas, motivate kids to learn and teach valuable life lessons. With CWIST, parents assign a learning challenge (“a cwist”) that the child will love doing because it’s interactive and it’s fun. There are two types of CWISTs: Ready-made challenges can be drawn from an online library of age-appropriate educational online games, such as a math challenges. Or, parents can create their own challenge for their kids to complete. This might be a chore, such as filling up two bags of leaves from the yard, or learning activities, like completing a reading assignment.
For completing these CWISTs, kids can earn parent-designated rewards such as a bowl of their favorite ice cream, an extra hour of television, or that cell phone upgrade they’ve been yearning for. These CWIST challenges help teach kids the importance of hard work in achieving their goals.
MY Take On CWIST:
My kids happen to well when there are goals involved. As a homeschooling parent CWIST brought something new and exciting to the table. I signed my son up and created an educational program based around the holidays. He learned about the history of Santa and Hanukkah. As he performs the assigned tasks he gets closer to earning his wish. His wish was to stay up an extra hour every night for a week. He’s still working on it, but that was a huge motivational tools for him. You can assign your own wishes or even gift items for completing CWIST’s. When my other son (that goes to school) found out about it he was on board. The platform is free to sign up and very easy to use. I was able to figure it out without watching the several tutorials they have available. Yes, if you aren’t computer savvy CWIST can help you through your setup. I plan on integrating CWIST into my homeschool studies. It’s fun because they also have games (math) and crafts (arts) that allow you to mix up your routine a bit and keep it fresh.
Kids CWIST for Kids Program:
I am so loving this holiday season! My family has been able to give back in many ways. Now CWIST has launched it’s holiday Kids CWIST for Kids program, and giving gets even better. Your kids have the opportunity to complete learning challenges to give gifts to kids in need. It works just about the same as the program I described except for a few exceptions. The first step is choosing a child, gender, age, and interest range. Then you get to select a gift that you feel that child would like to receive. As a parent you assign a CWIST for your child to complete, once it’s completed CWIST will take care of the gift up to $2500. If the goal is reached you still have the opportunity to purchase the gift item for 20% off. Right now we are working towards a game for a 7-year-old boy who loves games. Not only is my son learning things like history and math he’s also learning to help those in need, How awesome is that?

We gave back with helping out on sorting donations and toys for family and friends that lost their homes last month from a tornado. I think this would be nice for the summer months when they get a little bored and keep their reading and math skills sharp. Nice that they will be rewarded for doing something positive. Thank you for sharing.

CWIST sounds like a really interactive way to engage kids at home! I’m definitely going to look into this especially with Winter Break looming! Hopefully this will help with some ideas to keep them busy, but to also give them some fun learning activities! Thanks for sharing!
