*Disclosure: I received the Veggetti and a gift card in order to facilitate my review. All thoughts, yummy photos, complaints and praise belong to me.*
If you’ve been following me for awhile then you know that I have been struggling with food sensitivities for a couple of years now. At this point I’m aware of many food that my body has issues processing. Pasta happens to be one of those foods. So while I’ve cut down on the amount of pasta I consume, I’m still a huge fan of sauce. I’ve been dying to try the Veggetti and make myself some Zoodles! (Zucchini “noodles”) I had just finished making a big batch of homemade Marinara sauce when my Veggetti arrived.
The Review:
I love the idea and the fact that it’s small. It can fit right in your drawer and doesn’t take up a lot of room. The only problem with the size is that it limits the size of the veggie being inserted. I had a few that were too large. Then again I had issues trying to use carrots that weren’t large enough. It’s been a bit of trial and error, but overall I love it for the value and size. It lets you choose between thick or thin noodles. The veggies That I have used don’t seem to be right for the thin side. I was successful with zucchini and cucumbers, but carrots were tough for me. The safety holder works well when you have just about nothing else left to hold. I’d say it’s a great value for a useful kitchen tool. The noodles can be used for garnishes, salads, and stir-fries.
What I made:
I made Zoodles wit all the zucchini I have growing in my garden. I loved them! I boiled the Zoodles for 6 minutes and topped them with my homemade Marinara sauce. The husband and I enjoyed them. The next day I made a stir-fry of Zoodles and the strands of carrots from the Veggetti. Guess what? My kids that don’t eat zucchini loved it and had seconds! They had no idea it was zucchini! (Disclosure: my kids eat a lot of different Asian cuisine and usually don’t pick much out of what is in it. They just eat it.) They were a both dumbfounded when I let them know there was zucchini in it. Finally I made myself I nice spiral cucumber salad. Why? Because it was fun to look at and eat.
