The Review:
The Cave Tools Quick Read Digital Cooking Thermometer came to me just in time for me to make baked chicken drumsticks. I always have such a problem figuring out when the chicken is truly done. First feature that is worthy of raves is the probe end. The probe end is thin enough to pierce any piece of meat, poultry, pork or fish you may be cooking. If you find yourself cooking a large bird, ham or roast I see that it may not be long enough to get to the middle of what you are preparing. I also was able to use this to test out making homemade caramel sauce as the temp can go up to 450 degrees. One thing that I did find is that it would be nice to have a hooking device when dealing with very hot liquids.
The quick temperature read once inserted is time-saving. Within seconds I had a reading. The hold feature is a great one. This allows you to keep the temperature on display without changing as the probe is moved out into room air. You can change the temperature control from Celsius to Fahrenheit . There is also the digital display is large enough to view easily compared to my manual kitchen thermometer.
Looking at the design they say it fits in your pocket. The thermometer is a bit larger than I expected for pocket use. I realize the only pocket it truly fits in is my apron pocket. The sleeve does have a clip to secure it to the outside of your pocket. A feature that I think could be added to the sleeve of the probe would be a printed internal temperature guide. I enjoying cooking from scratch and coming up with recipes and I like having a handy guide right at my finger tips. My manual thermometer has one printed on the sleeve and I always found that to be my favorite feature. The bonus card that was inserted in the box giving you a link to a free BBQ recipe book is a perk.
About Jenn Markwerth:
I live in Upstate New York in the most fantastic town. I am a mother of two amazing girls ages 10 & 8. My girls keep me moving and active with being a sports mom. I love to cook and cruise food blogs. Pinterest has given me tons of ideas . Oh and YES I have made things from Pinterest not just pinned! I enjoy reading Blogs on mommy stuff and laughing along knowing I am not the only one out there who has had that done or feel that way. Now that my oldest is entering middle school and puberty is fast approaching any blogs with wise words on how to get through the next years of attitude are the holy grail! Lucky for me I work at our local high school and have been hearing the inside scoop direct from the students. Life just keeps moving forward and getting better.

I really need one of these to add to my array of cooking utensils! You addressed one of my biggest problems, cooking chicken legs and thighs. I went through a period of time where I just couldn’t seem to get the chicken cooked thoroughly, especially on the grill, so I quit cooking those pieces of meat. If I had one of these, I could go back to grilling chicken with confidence.
