When I started promoting the film Paper Towns people began asking me, “What is a Paper Town?” A paper town is a town marked on a map that doesn’t actually exist and is used to help map making companies avoid being plagiarized. Algoe, New York is a paper town. I mention that because I live in New York and it’s in the novel and film by John Green.
Fox Home Entertainment Insiders sent me a scrapbooking kit so I could get the girls together, watch the movie and create pages of our memories. I thought we would each be getting a book and shared supplies, but I was wrong. I was just sent one book. What to do?
Paper Towns is a coming of age movie. It isn’t just about Quentin’s love for Margo, but about friendship as well. While Quentin seems to have only 2 friends, Margo seems to be friends with everyone. It’s Margo although that feels the most alone. She’s been trying so hard to be friends with everyone that she’s not really friends with anyone.
Just recently a friend of mine and I had a conversation about something similar regarding friendships. So, what I wanted to do was to create a scrapbook for a special friend of mine and have our friends share memories of our times together.
We ripped open the Sharpies and went at it! Writing messages and laughing about some of the times we shared together. While I was sent printer photo paper I wanted the photos to be printed at the shop. I’m a hard-core scrapbooker- so I need the best quality when making a book.
In my package I had these cool stickers from the movie and more! I want to create my own paper town. In a way I feel as if I have already here at my home. Our scrapbook is a collection of photos from all the ladies nights I have hosted at my house throughout the last few years. Someone once said to me that my place is where everything is better and everything is safe.
Another great add-on to my scrapbook, I bet my friends are wondering who this book is for, or not. If they know me at all then they know who is getting this gift and if I haven’t contacted you yet I will to sign a page or your picture. Plus, I’m going to have a Paper Town viewing party where the recipient gets our gift. For now it’s under wraps!

I haven’t heard of Paper Towns but it sounds like a movie I should check out! I’m the type of person to read a novel before watching a movie based on it so I might do it in this case. Btw, I love using my Sharpies for scrapbooking!
