Boy, have I had some mixed feelings this week online. I go back and forth between being inspired and being horrified. That’s just part of the world isn’t it though? Whether you are online or not there will always be a mix of good and bad things happening around you. Focus is important.
This week I learned that: (Mostly online)
10. if a baby bird falls out of it’s nest and is unharmed you can put it back in the nest. ( I knew that if you touch a bird the mom won’t come back thing is a myth, but I never knew what to do if you find a little one. We saved a baby this past week!)
9. professionals aren’t always professional. ( When I call you for a service or an appointment calling back in a timely fashion or even calling back at all would be good. I have been so frustrated this week with the lack of client care.)
8. you can do everything right and still have it go all wrong. ( I was listening to my friend’s struggles and she said just that. It’s true. We can do everything we are supposed to do and the universe has something else in store for us. Ultimately, we can’t control everything. We just need to live in a way that makes us happy, that helps others, and hopefully leaves the world a better place than you found it.)
7. the mob mentality played out online is beyond scary. ( Seriously, I am so over the zoo incident and anything like it. The comments bordered on disturbing. People need to know when to stop and just keep things to themselves.)
6. if adults can’t be responsible online how can our kids be. ( The name calling, the bullying, the sharing over and over again of false information. Don’t even let me start with the inappropriate photos. Have some control people.)
5. just a few small gestures and words of encouragement can change a moment. ( I’ve been trying to not just go through the motions with people. I’m trying to be more connected, more present and I’m seeing a huge difference already.)
4. no amount of “likes” could be as great as when my boys tell me they love something! ( My wonderful boys told me that I make our home a great place to live. You really can’t top that!)
3. I actually like running. ( I just started the Couch to 5K and it’s pretty great. I have zero endurance, but I’m getting there. Relaxing and energizing.)
2. no matter how old you are there are still many firsts awaiting you. Big or small. ( Something as small as the first strawberry of the season is still a first in my book. It doesn’t always have to be skydiving. Look for the little things.)
1. sometimes taking one chore, one activity, just one thing out of the picture can make a huge difference in life. ( My husband was feeling stressed. We both were and felt like we didn’t have enough time to do what we really wanted. We hired someone to mow our lawn and it has made all the difference. Something so small has given us so much extra time. Well worth the cost.)

I didn’t know that about baby birds! As for professionals, totally. I outsource some of my work and sometimes I can’t believe how unprofessional people can be.
As for #4, AWWWW!

Yes to number 8 and as far as annoying things online, I’ve managed to make a habit of steering clear of any social media drama. If it’s not fun, I usually pass it right by. I love that you’re sharing life lessons with your readers!

We are trying to get our 12 year old to start cutting the lawn. My husband will do the trimming and I usually do the other half but reducing this chore by 20 minutes is key.

Sounds like you learned a lot. I agree about the online stuff. I have learned you just have to walk away and stop feeding the mob.

Ugh. I am so over the zoo thing. People are so judgmental based on snapshots of information online!

I also find the mob mentality online annoying! Everyone jumps on the band wagon whether it is about a gorilla, a change your profile pic thing or others. People have no org thought anymore.

This post totally made me want a strawberry! I also wish I could outsource some stuff, I have A LOT on my plate right now!

I had no clue about the baby birds, I always thought they couldn’t be touched.
I totally agree with you about the mob mentality online and people not being responsible online. It’s sad how awful people can be online.

I love lesson number 6. It’s a shame when I see so many adults online name-calling and getting into petty online arguments.

You have learned a lot of stuff online. I didn’t know that about baby birds!

I totally agree with your unprofessional point. There’re so many people who think that they are professional but make others suffer by their unprofessional behaviour!
