This July has been busy, busy, fun! I think taking the Summer off with the kids has been good for all of us. We’ve been learning a lot about each other and relaxing which is something I find people can’t do anymore. (Or should I say won’t) The down time and not running around is helping put a few things into perspective and I need that in my life. I’m feeling good, really good.
This July I learned that:
10. I do like games. ( It has me. Yes, Pokemon Go! My kids have no interest and laugh at me when I play. They have never seen me play a video game on my phone so they have been getting a kick out of it.)
9. it grosses me out when people post pictures of stitches, surgery scars, busted body parts, etc online. ( Seriously? Why do you need to share that?)
8. mean kids usually have mean parents. ( I think I mentioned this before but I’ve been reminded of this sitting in the stands at basketball. The kids that are jerks to my kids and their other team mates usually have those parents that are constantly criticizing them and berating their efforts. It’s sad.)
7. there is a sense of peace knowing that someone feels the same way you do. ( It helps you to not feel crazy or alone.)
6. my husbands idea of a good place to eat with the kids and mine are two different things. ( He sent me to a bar with the kids. Yes, there was food and yes it was good, but it was dark and filled with guys. The lady bartenders were not thrilled with me and the kids. He was shocked. Sigh…)
5. the feeling you get when you walk away from someone and you know that they are going to be talking about you the first chance they get. ( It happened to me twice this month. I had that creepy feeling when I was flashed a fake smile. I got your number ladies.)
4. I’m going to start adding “professional hand holder” to my bio. ( I love it! I love helping people through whatever it is they need help with no matter how big or small. I guess it makes me feel needed.)
3. nothing is as unattractive as a person that gossips about their “best” friend. ( That’s all I have to say on this one. It kind of speaks for itself!)
2. brand/ brand name dropping makes me laugh. ( I might have been impressed when I was in my twenties, but I’m all grown up now and I find it all funny.)
1.it doesn’t matter what “the Joneses” are doing, but what is best for your own family. ( Just because everyone seems to be doing something, buying something, etc, doesn’t mean it’s the right thing for you. Focus on what you find important and give your time to that purpose. )

Summer has had a lot of highlights so far – a trip to Cape Cod. A blogging conference. A few birthdays!
I think your #8 is spot on!

I can certainly agree with a whole lot of your epiphanies on this list. The one about the mean kids with mean parents is so true. I found that out when my daughter was playing soccer.

I had a great summer! I agree on your list and I love what you wrote on #1. I believe its always best to bond with people who matters to you, spend quality time with them and treasure those moments!

Can we be friends because it basically sounds like you and I are on the same page when it comes to friendships and people. I cant handle fake people and oddly enough the friends that I have dropped lately are those that are in their 20’s. Never realized how different things are from your 20’s to your 30’s but it is drastic.

Those are great lessons! I am with you on with all of them. Being solid in yourself without worrying about fakers, brands, or keeping up with anyone else is the greatest gift you can give yourself.

Thanks for #9! I hope the right people read it! It always disgusts me and it seems so immature and crying for attention. Grow up already! Thanks for saying something.

I like comment number 1. I think people spend entirely too much comparing what they do and don’t have to other people. I get where you are coming from. You see things entirely different when you move from your 20s to your 30s. But you learn a lot during the way. At least some people do haha
I still haven’t even attempted to play or download pokemon go. I will just let me son enjoy it for me lol

I love that one about brand names, and also the jonesies one. I have to absolutely absolutely agree with you on those two. On another note, great share!
