When does sick get real for you?
As a mom of two boys I know it’s real the second I get the look, that sad pathetic look that says I just don’t feel well. I have been caught more than once with a sick kid and no way to soothe them in the house. I’ve learned that I’m better off keeping a supply of medications in the house for when sickness hits. I use coupons and keep an eye out for sales. Target makes it easy to save when I need too!
One item I always have on hand is Children’s Advil®. It’s for children 2 – 11 and it helps fevers, aches and pains. Children’s Advil® comes in several great-tasting flavors, including: Sugar-free Dye-free Berry, Bubble Gum, Grape, Blue Raspberry, Fruit and Dye-Free White Grape flavors. There’s also Infants’ Advil® White Grape. It works for us.
I gained a new appreciation for Children’s Robitussin® DM Day/Night Pack (Children’s Robitussin® Cough & Chest Congestion and Children’s Robitussin® Nighttime Cough) the last time my boys were both sick. They just couldn’t get to sleep at night. I was so relieved when I tried this combo pack because not only did they get relief during the day, but I was able to get some sleep myself at night because they were soothed.
Another one on my list when those nasty colds get in the way of a kids life is Children’s Dimetapp® Cold & Cough. I can give them this and send them off to school with no worries.
5 Tips for Entertaining Sick Kids:
We all know when one kid gets sick it spreads throughout the house and the other kids are soon to follow. Here are some ways I help to pass the time.
- Movies/Tv shows: Whether you get them from the library, stream online, or use your own collection coming up with new series or even a marathon theme helps pass the time!
- Fun foods: I admit: I let me kids eat whatever they want when they aren’t feeling well. It usually gets them to eat more than they would. Pudding, ice pops, and basically anything they can handle just as long as they eat.
- Audio Books: Sometimes watching Tv or reading is too much on the eyes, but a book an audio book lets a child’s imagination soar and be stimulated.
- Board games or cards: This is the one time I will let them win! It motivates healing.
- Hold them and talk: Right! It seems simple, but I’m not sure how many folks actually just sit and hold their kids. I do. I tell them stories about when I was young and I tell them about when they were babies. They love it and sometimes fall asleep.
