My 7 Year Old is a Vegetarian & I’m Not

child vegetarian

It's become quite a topic of interest to folks lately that my seven year old has chosen to be a vegetarian. People are always asking me if I'm a vegetarian or if he watched something on TV. I'm also asked, "Do you cook him different meals?" and my favorite, "Why do you let him be a vegetarian?" Sure I get asked other questions as well, but these are the common ones. Is Your Fear Holding Your Child Back?

My Son's 4H Poster

Let me start from the beginning, as with any holiday it's been commercialized to be over the top. Back in the day Valentine's was a heart felt moment between lovers, today it's an event that comes with epic proportions of candy sent home … [Read more...]

Cooperation Equals Connection?

I liked this photo so I posted it to my page and it caused some debate amongst parents both on and offline. Perhaps I'm reading more into this, but I wanted to share my story about connecting with my children and it has nothing to do with them being compliant. At first glance, these words would appear to mean that if you are connected to your children they will cooperate with you. They will honor your every whim because the two of you are so close. That's not how I feel when I read … [Read more...]
