Mercy Rising: Simple Ways to Practice Justice and Compassion by Amber Robinson has been quite an inspiring? book to read during this holiday season. I received the book from the publisher to review and have been both moved and inspired to take action. Have you ever thought that you just don’t have the resources needed to help those that are suffering? That you don’t have enough time or money? Amber Robinson offers many tools to help you organize way to give and choose what has meaning for you.
When I was younger I had this crazy fantasy that I would be wealthy someday and spend all of my time and extra resources giving back to the community or charities of my choice. Haha- so in reality I’m definitely not wealthy, but I have found several ways of using my time and resources to provide help in my community. This book actually made me think beyond what I was doing and gave me numerous ideas on how to expand on the giving I’ already doing. My favorite part about the book is that it offers real life ideas on giving. By that I mean, things anyone regardless of financial resources can do. Also, several ideas on things you can do in your everyday life that aid your community, such as, buying locally, that you can do if you truly “don’t have tine to volunteer in other ways.
Mercy Rising: Simple Ways to Practice Justice and Compassion ends ever chapter with questions to reflect upon, using biblical wisdom to find ways to encourage compassion and giving. I found this quite helpful in allowing people to explore in what ways they wish to serve the community. The book also has a charitable organization resource guide that lists websites and relief and development of charitable organizations.
A book worth reading and sharing with friends, Mercy Rising: Simple Ways to Practice Justice and Compassion by Amber Robinson can motivate great change in your community and your home.
