So, the kids are home for the week and you are wondering how am I going to survive! I have a few tricks that you can try whether you like them or not- they have worked over here. It really is possible to have some time to yourself when the kids are home. You just have to be more flexible and more creative in your thinking and also what you consider to be down time. For me, sometimes it just comes down to the kids not fighting with each other. I personally find that relaxing! So here are some of my tips for surviving winter vacation at home.
1. Send them outside! Yes, the bundling takes forever, but you can actually have a coffee and watch them from the window.
2. Pull out the Play dough. Yes, I’ve heard some of you cringe, but the clean up is worth the break.
3.Play games with your kids. Okay, so your not actually getting time to yourself, but the kids aren’t fighting and you can actually have a great time with them.
4. Let them watch an extra movie. Sure, we don’t do TV over here either, but it’s okay to let go every so often.
5. Ask for their help. This has been a big hit over here this holiday season. My kids have helped me cook, clean and even put their own laundry away. So, while I’m not getting time to myself they are helping make my life easier.
These are just some ideas for you, so you don’t feel like you have to leave the house and entertain your kids all the time. They are experts at entertaining themselves with the right tools. Enjoy this time at home with them. Life will once again begin with the New Year and you will wish for the down time you are having right now. This is the time when you are allowed to break all your rules and see where it takes you.
