This Sunday begins our countdown to Christmas and I’m still in awe at how fast it got here. Our family made an advent wreath after church last week and I feel great about sharing this tradition with our children. We just finished celebrating Thanksgiving at our house and I feel exhausted. My hubby worked the day before, I had parent teacher conferences for both boys, the power cord/charger died on my computer and hubby came home sick. This mommy stayed up till 1 A.M. prepping and woke up at 6 A.M. to continue. I literally can’t move today. Does anyone really know or care? I wonder sometimes. I had a good day with everyone and the clean up crew was fantastic. ( Basically my brother’s girlfriend, washed I think every dish, pot, pan and utensil) My oldest son had the largest meltdown ever, but I was able to save day. Tomorrow I’ll have to deal with the monumental amount of laundry I have and my broken washing machine. Today, the boys and I protested Black Friday and wore our PJ’s all day, played with trains and watched Gossip Girl and SpongeBob. ( What a combo!) I hope everyone had a blessed holiday and here we go:
This week I learned that:
10. a turkey baster CAN malfunction. ( So, it sucked up all the juices, but didn’t hold them in. A painful fact I learned as I burned my hand with hot ham juice!)
9.people using the words small and simple to describe my home or it’s contents drives me up a wall. ( First of all, I’m anything, but small and simple, secondly what do you possibly gain by belittling me?)
8. just because something doesn’t look good doesn’t mean it’s not going to be the best thing you ever had. ( My surprise first course using puff pastry didn’t puff as much as I would have hoped, but it sure as hell tasted good!)
7. life is always full of surprises. ( Once again, my jaw dropped to the floor. This was actually a good thing.)
6. I need to be a little selfish sometimes, regardless of what people might think. ( I’ll let this go because I just have too much to say about this, but it’s all good.)
5. people that talk loud usually aren’t saying anything I want to hear. ( I swear they just talk loud because they think it gives them a sense of authority when there actually is little knowledge or thought behind what they are saying.)
4. if you do the right thing, even when it’s hard it always pays off. ( You don’t need to cheat, steal or be dishonest to get ahead. Sure, some people do, but they always fall at some point and fall hard.)
3. risks are definitely worth taking -whether you fail or succeed. ( I took a huge risk this week with people. Rejection frightens me more than sudden death, but I put myself out there and succeeded. The rewards out weighed the awkwardness of it all for me. I’ll be doing this more in the future.)
2. people will sacrifice family time and holidays to wait in line with strangers in hopes of getting a deal. ( I find it so sad. So, so, sad.)
1. having a pajama day with my boys is worth more than any discount I could possibly receive today. (We snuggled, snacked, put a train set together, laughed and loved each other. The only thing that could have been better would be if daddy was home with us.)
Have a great weekend! I have 3 new giveaways this week and some super reviews coming up! I’m thankful for all my readers!

I can’t imagine a better way to spend a day than a pajama day with your children. ๐ Sounds like you learned some great things. ๐
