Sometimes you need to think out of the box when it comes to your profession, and explore where it can take you. I never knew that there was a demand for Travel Nursing here in the U.S. I actually never even thought it existed unless you signed up to volunteer in another country. Then I came across this website and found out it actually does exist, and it sounds like an awesome opportunity.
Here is the scoop:
You get to sign up, travel the country and help others while helping yourself. The pay is excellent and the jobs even offer a place to stay for free. Now you can’t beat that free price tag, huh? This sounds like such a fantastic way to see if you actually want to take up residence in another place without making a commitment. I was also surprised that they do accept nurses with families. This is not just for singles, you can relocate your entire family. Most contracts start at 8 weeks and you even have the option to renew if you want to stay longer. Also, it gives you the opportunity to see the country while making a difference and building your skills along the way. This is a fantastic way to build your resume if you are just starting out in the nursing field. You need to have only 1 year of experience to apply. In some cases you can pick your city, or at least put a request in for when it’s available.
In the economy of today it’s nice to have options to explore, especially when you can take your family with you. Signing up lets you check the job board for available opportunities in your specific field of nursing. I was also surprised to find that travelnursing.org offers a nursing scholarship every six months. Whether you are a student or new to the filed of nursing you can apply for a scholarship. Sounds like good time to be a nurse!
