Fall has to be my favorite season. It has everything I love, the clothes, the food, the weather and the fun! My family does everything from hiking, football and even Fall clean up together. It might take longer to clean up outside with my guys jumping in out of the leaf piles, but it’s always worth it. We laugh and chase each other around. There is always the promise of hot chocolate when we come indoors. The other thing that I like about Fall is the food! My crockpot is out and being used as I type this post. My meal being prepared in the slow cooker actually gives me more time to spend with my family.
My Fall food planning usually begins with the first apple pie of the season. I make an awesome apple pie! I live on an apple orchard so the possibilities are endless. We hike and pick and prepare. My family spending time together around the kitchen table talking, doing homework, or playing a game is priceless. We also eat better because I try to use seasonal ingredients and we are eating at home. That’s why I like the Together Counts program.
Together Counts is a nationwide program inspiring active and healthy living. The principle behind our program is Energy Balance, which means balancing the calories we consume with the calories we burn. Something that I personally struggle with myself. Together Counts is a first-of-its kind coalition that brings together more than 200 retailers, food and beverage manufacturers, restaurants, sporting goods and insurance companies, trade associations and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and professional sports organizations. The website contains downloadable lesson plans for families, teachers and any member of the community that is seeking balance. The suggestions and activities can help any family connect and spend some time together. If you are looking to find a healthy balance and spend time with your family check them out at http://www.togethercounts.com/
Please join me and Together Counts at a Twitter party on 10/17 from 8-9 PM EST in the hashtag #TogetherCounts (RSVP – http://resourcefulmommy.com/10604/together-counts-fall-twitter-party/)

I love the Fall too. I think it’s great that you and your family are working together on living healthier with Together Counts. I am definitely trying to fit more calorie burning activities into our schedule this Fall.
