My boys are huge fans of National Geographic Kids! So, am I. It’s always been an easy way to get my boys to read and learn at the same time. The appeal of course is the beautiful photos that are signature to National Geographic. On October 23rd Angry Birds Playground: Animals: An Around-the-World Habitat Adventure was released by National Geographic kids in partnership with Rovio. ANGRY BIRDS PLAYGROUND: ANIMALS is the companion book to Rovio Learning´s groundbreaking new series of pre-school/early learning program products with the same name, Angry Birds Playground. The book and the entire learning program are created in consultation with educators and feature curriculum exercises to build basic skills. By partnering with Rovio’s Angry Birds, National Geographic is able to deliver educational content within a format that is sure to please both Angry Birds fans and their parents!
Review:
This book was a winner with both of my boys the second I pulled it out of the package. Here’s why! My 6 year old loves animals! Add to that fact the Angry Birds and he couldn’t wait to get his hands on this book. He loved the pictures, but more so he asked me to help him read the information about the animals. On each animals page there is a fact box that contains information on their size, what food they like to eat, what sounds they make and other fun facts. He loved learning this information and was surprised at times by the things that animals do and eat. Being a mom I loved that he was interested in learning the information and tried reading the book himself several times. My 8 year old loves information and is a fact hunter. Sometimes he a bit too serious, so I loved the fact that he found the Angry Birds “silly”. He also helped his brother read this book. I loved that they learned that learning can be fun! I think if you have a child that is interested in animals, Angry Birds, reading, learning facts or even just looking at pictures they will enjoy this book. A beautiful addition to any library and a great gift to give this holiday season.
Disclosure: I received a copy of this book to facilitate my review. all thoughts are mine and my boys!
