As most of my readers know I’ve been trying to live a gluten-free lifestyle. I’ve stumbled and then bounced back. I am human after all. When the opportunity came for me to review a book in the Dummies series I opted for Gluten-Free Cooking For Dummies (For Dummies (Cooking)) . I’m so glad that I did, for a number of reasons. First off, let me tell you that I’m a big fan of the “Dummies” book series. The books have been straight forward and easy to follow. Mostly due to the icons used in the books. The icons point out tips, things to remember and warnings. The icons are important guides because they highlight information that you might want to revisit. One of the most important aspects of the dummies books is that you don’t have to read them straight through; you can skip around as you want, looking up information as you please. Its not an instruction manual. It’s a guide.
Aside from the numerous recipes available, the book speaks about living a gluten free lifestyle. When people hear gluten free diet they assume weight loss, that is not so, Its a lifestyle choice for some, for other it has to do with health. Whether you have Celiac disease or gluten sensitivities nutrition is important. What I like about this book is that it not only gives gluten free recipes it focuses on nutrition. The book won me over when it spoke about eating products made by nature not by man. Most people become focused on what they cant eat and loss sight on what the can eat. This book is well rounded. It lets you eat Mac and Cheese, while also lets you make a spinach lentil soup.
If you are considering living a gluten free lifestyle and don’t know where to begin, start here. Not only is this book easy to read; its easy to follow and can make living this life style possible.
Disclosure: I was provided with a copy of this book to facilitate my review. All thoughts are my own.
