My July ladies night was different from most. I shared with the ladies a guilty pleasure of mine and that’s watching The Bachelorette. Yes, I’m a fan and have been for years. I have always wanted to have a viewing party, but I just never did it until now. Lucky for me that Brancott Estate wanted my ladies to try some of its wonderful wines from New Zealand. I was unable to locate the Pinot Noir, so I hosted the night with Brancott Estate Sauvignon Blanc. It was perfect for a hot July evening and my guests agreed. I paired the chilled wine with a Mediterranean style platter of greek olives, cheeses, pita and hummus. I also served a fruit platter which complimented the sweet and fruity crispness of this white wine. Brancott has been making its Sauvignon Blanc for over 30 years in the Marlborough region of New Zealand. I was secretly hoping that the show would be in New Zealand the night of party, but that didn’t stop our fun.
Most of my friends had heard of the show, but had not watched it. I spent a good portion of the evening explaining exactly what goes on during The Bachelorette. Alot of kissing happens on the show and we had several conversations about that topic. The funniest part of the evening was I had a guest that didn’t come, but they were watching at home and joined the conversation with us on my Facebook event page. Once again, it was someone who was not familiar with the show. We had so much fun both online and off that one of guests suggested we get together again for another viewing party. It was great to be able to watch the show with friends in real-time and discuss events as they unfolded. It’s important to get together with friends especially for some special “girl” time without children and spouses. We were just able to be ourselves, laugh, and even be outraged at times. Brancott Estate was lovely and sent my party goers a chill hour bag. Perfect to fill with ice and chill that bottle!
For me, being a fan of the show I was disappointed that Juan Pablo went home. I was gunning for him to stay. I do however have a new-found respect for Zak and Brooks. I can’t wait to cuddle up tonight with my own bottle of Brancott Estate Sauvignon Blanc, melted Brie cheese, crackers and watch what happens next! I’m hoping it will be the most dramatic rose ceremony ever! I wonder if any of my ladies are watching tonight.
