I love being an Ambassador for the Dummies book series, as there are always more skills I need to learn and a book to go with them! I’m in the market for a new camera and as a blogger my camera is an important tool. I haven’t yet ventured into the area of video for my blog, but it’s something I want to add. I also want to be able to save special family memories. The new DSLR cameras make it possible to capture videos and photos without the use of a secondary video camera. So, while I’m looking for my upgrade I’m learning about all the things I need to create movies using DSLR.
The Review:
Once again, the best part about the “For Dummies” book series is that you don’t need to read the book chapter by chapter. You can easily make your way to the information that you need without reading what you don’t. Digital SLR Video & Filmmaking for Dummies is made to help both amateurs and professionals. If you are a professional photographer and need to sharpen your video skills this book is for you. If you are a newbie and want to learn how to make short films and video this book is for you too!
For a newbie like me, I found Digital SLR Video & Filmmaking for Dummies helpful in explaining alot of jargon that I didn’t understand when I was looking to purchase a camera. For instance I didn’t know anything about sensor size or what that even means when you are taking a photo or cropping, etc. Although as a newbie you would think that I would have found the information about directing my own film intimidating, it was actually the opposite. It was exciting to glance at some of the chapters that talk about filmmaking. Everything from lighting, editing, camera angles, screenwriting and production is touched upon in this book. It truly is a guide for all levels. I’m happy that I had chance to read this before purchasing my camera.
Disclosure: I received a copy of this book in order to facilitate my review. I received no other compensation. All thoughts are my own.

Almost 3 weeks I was making videos for the campaign, now I wish I had read this book before. I think I should start reading it to create decent movies of family adventures and video reviews.
