As an ambassador for the “For Dummies” books, I get a chance to review some popular books in their series and learn new things. I’m as busy as the next person so I enjoy the “For Dummies” book series because they get give you the information you need in an easy to read format. They are written for the average person as well, as the experienced one looking to sharpen their skills. The book is not meant to be used as a manual, but rather a reference guide that you skip to each section as you need it. No need to read the entire book in order. This makes life so much easier when you can just get right to the information you are looking for instead of reading a lengthy text. This time I’ve been looking over Microsoft Office 2013 for Dummies.
I’ve been a stay at home mom for a few years now and have come to realize that although I do work on my computer daily my skills are still living back in the world of Microsoft Office 2011. I thought this would be a great way to see the advances in Office and stay up to date on my skills. You never know when a freelance or part-time job might come along. I want to be ready. I’ll also admit to you that I have lost some of the sharpness of my skills from lack of using them. The book lets you know what chapters are important to read depending on how savvy you are with computers. It also tells you where you need to begin reading if you haven’t had any experience at all. It saves you time.
Microsoft Office 2013 consists of five programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook. Even though each program stores and manipulates different types of data they all work in the same way. The book helps you dive right into the features that each of these programs has to offer plus teaches you how they work together. Once again the For Dummies book series uses icons throughout the book to highlight various information. You can quickly browse: Tips, Warnings, Technical Stuff, and things to Remember. Plus you can also visit www.dummies.com for awesome Dummies content online! I’ve used the site several times myself.

My husband knows everything about Windows Office (or so he claims) haha. I would be in definite need of this book though if I were to use it much! He is a Windows Guy, and I am a MAC woman. 🙂

This is great! I know a lot of people that have a lot of questions with Microsoft Office and it is time consuming calling the customer service number!
