Teacarina- Music in a tea cup!
The St.Louis School of Music has developed a tea-cup that’s also a flute. The Teacarina is a combination of a tea-cup and ocarina that let’s you play music between sips of your favorite tea or hot drink. When I was sent one for review I couldn’t wait for the kids to give it a try , but it became popular with everyone in the family quickly. I think we need one more Teacarina in my home!
Here is how it works:
My Thoughts:
When I first unwrapped the Teacarina, I loved the feel of the ceramic cup in my hands. I immediately wanted to bring it to my lips and play. The Teacarina comes with a small booklet of sheet music for the beginner. The music is illustrated with tiny Teacarina’s and what holes need to be covered to produce certain notes. Music is produced by blowing through an air chamber, changing pitch by fingering four holes of various sizes on the side on the cup. My boys had a good time taking turns trying to play. My youngest has a palate extender and he happens to produces a lot of saliva. I was concerned about how well I could keep it clean. Thankfully, it is dishwasher safe and easy to clean. For $18 the Teacarina is a wonderful introduction to music, plus a fun novelty at any table.
Teacarina is a unique gift item perfect for Easter baskets and Mother’s Day! Bring a little music and fun into your home this Spring!
Disclosure: I received a Teacarina for review purposes. All thoughts belong to me.
