My boys love sharks and the beach! So, I certainly wanted to take the opportunity to review the new book series called Surf Sharks. The first book in this series is titled Surf Sharks: The First Ride. It’s a story about 3 young sharks and 3 young surfers and how they help each other solve problems and escape danger. The book introduces the surfing sharks – MAVRIK, TALON and HEMI along with their surfer dude friends, RIP, OZZY and WADE as they find that by working together. It’s a story filled with adventure and shark facts!
The review:
A wonderful book for both boys and girls. At first glance I fell in love with the illustrations, it’s no wonder since the illustrator is Chance Wolf. Chance Wolf is an award-winning artist and comic book artist that has worked on such titles as Spawn and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. My boys loved the illustrations as well, they are vibrant and detailed for a children’s book. My son enjoyed reading the story. The facts about sharks are weaved into the story. Children are learning real facts without actually knowing it. (Except for my son- he loves sharks and can tell you a ton of facts!) This book is great and would make a wonderful gift. (Think end of the school year gift to celebrate Summer!) Although the 3 main characters of this book are males, they introduce additional characters to appear in upcoming books and there is a girl joining the boys as well. I love it! It’s a fun book that all kids would enjoy!.
