I was completely spoiled on Valentines Day. My husband and boys treated me to fabulous food and fun all day long. Little did the husband know I was planning a special stay at home date night. We certainly don’t get out alone as much as we’d like, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have some fun at home. One of the perks of being a Fox Home Entertainment Insider is that I get to host some special events at my home. This time it was date night. Just in time for the release of The Best of Me on Blu-ray and DVD.
Nicolas Sparks is the king of romance in my book. The New York Times seems to think so too! The Best of Me is based on his #1 New York Times Best Seller about the timeless power of love. When former high school sweethearts Dawson and Amanda (James Marsden and Michelle Monaghan) meet at a loved one’s funeral 20 years after tragedy separated them, their love is reignited. As they recall and relive the past, they come to a deeper understanding about the choices they’ve made. Also starring Luke Bracey and Liana Liberato, and featuring beautiful scenery along with music by Lady Antebellum, The Best of Me is a powerfully romantic story of love, hope and second chances.
For the Home Entertainment release, the “Tears of Joy” Edition Blu-ray and DVD will include an all-new storyline and “Storybook” Alternate Ending so Amanda and Dawson finally get that second chance at love.
So, we sent the kids upstairs to watch a movie of their own. We poured some wine and lit some candles, then headed off to our own living room, turned carpet picnic movie theater. ( I guess I should say blanket since we don’t have a carpet!)
Now, if I have to cook it’s not really date night. Date night also doesn’t always have to be fancy. The entire point is that you have good time and enjoy each others company. We ordered salad and pizzas. The kids were thrilled all tucked out of our way.
My husband truly enjoyed our night. He admitted that having “date night” at home is a great idea and we should do it more often. Our boys are old enough that we can actually have some quiet time with them in the house. Nice!
I heard great things about this movie. I will catch it when it’s on Netflix 🙂

That is usually what a date night consists of , wine and a movie. IT is economical and thanks for the reminder he owes me a chick flick.
