My husband and I celebrated our 15 year wedding anniversary on October 7! We wanted to do something different this year and special to mark the occasion. Then I remembered being little and seeing commercials on television for the Pocono Resorts. As silly as it might sound I dreamed of growing up and being with my special someone in a champagne shaped hot tub! So, we did it!
We went all out and booked the Champagne Tower suite for the weekend. We had quiet a few people comment on our trip and I’m here to tell you the scoop and answer the questions. The first question: “Do they still have things like that?” Yes, yes they do! I know, I myself questioned whether or not these places still existed and they do! Cove Haven Entertainment Resorts has three couples only resorts in the Poconos not far from New York City.
Our 4 floor Champagne Towers suite had a heart-shaped in room pool, sauna, massage table, champagne glass hot tub, and fireplace. The staff greeted us happily and our room was staged with the Suite Seduction package complete with rose petals, chocolate truffles, wine glasses, champagne bucket, candles and bubbles.
The room was immaculately clean. There were several light switches so it took us awhile to catch on and figure out what best set our mood. We had a good laugh about it. Even with all the lights on it was still dim. I suppose to keep the mood sexy. We expected to find a chilled bottle of champagne, but alas the bucket was empty. We called and were told it would be there with in the hour. We loved the room! Question 2: “Isn’t this really cheesy?” Ummm, Yes, but honestly that’s part of the charm. That’s what we wanted.
We had never been to a couples only resort and it was nice not having to deal with kids. Although, I did miss mine! There were so many different types of couples at the resort. We met a newly expectant couple trying to have one last adult only fling before the baby arrives and we met a newly engaged couple that were beaming with happiness. We also observed groups of friends that had traveled together and even moms and dads with their adult children.
Every day a brochure is available at breakfast, the gift shop or guest services describing any special events available during the day and that evening’s entertainment. No one is harassing you to join anything, it’s so nice to know what’s available without being pinned down to participate. A photographer is also on site to photograph your special visit. You can have an in room visit or meet up somewhere on the resort grounds. The photos are available next day in the gift shop and you are under no obligation to buy. We didn’t take advantage of this, but maybe next time!
Breakfast and dinner are covered in the all-inclusive price. These meals are served at the Colosseum Restaurant. Alcoholic beverages are available for purchase or you can enjoy soft drinks with your meal. I was quiet happy with what we were served. Breakfast was buffet style. I was very pleased with the selection of hot foods, fruits, cereals, bagels and pastries. The servers during our entire stay were fantastic! The best part about this place has to be the people who work there. I have never seen a friendlier staff. To me, that really says something about the place. We had 2 dinners. One was a buffet and the other a sit down. Once again I was quiet pleased with the food.
The heart-shaped bar ( Cupids Corner) in the dining area hosts a happy hour and snacks. We did feel as if we were in a different time period. While the decor might be dated, it is all in pristine condition. Once again, I feel that this adds to the charm of the place. The age range of the guests is varied. We saw young couples in their twenties and older couples possibly in their seventies if not older! Many returning year after year!
One of our days was rainy, but Cove Haven has plenty of on site activities for you to enjoy both indoors and out. We hit the arcade, went roller skating, played mini-golf, ping-pong, and pool. There are other things to do as well such as, basketball, archery, racquetball, a fitness room, tanning, indoor pools and hot tubs. All these activities are included with your stay- arcade of course is extra! Spa services are also available for an extra price. In the evening we caught some high quality entertainment at the Champagne Palace Nightclub from a band called Kartune. A comedian followed, but we went back to our room for some alone time.
You can stay and enjoy the grounds till 5 o’clock after check out. The heated outdoor pools were still open during our stay. We enjoyed our in-room pool so didn’t take advantage of these others. We did take a Paddleboat out on the lake. Yes, that’s included too and boat rides! The grounds are well-kept and clean.Check out the website for other seasonal activities.
The resort is large and if you need help getting around just call the “Love Machine” Once again, a friendly driver will pick you up and take you to your destination! We used this service a few times due to rain and my high heel habit!
Final Thoughts:
Cove Haven was a fun-filled couples only trip. It’s a certainly a trip worth making for the experience of it all. There’s a reason why couples return year after year and I can guarantee you it’s not for the cheesy decor, but for the amazing accommodating staff! Visit the Poconos and reconnect, rekindle or jump-start a new romance in the land of love!
Disclosure: We were given a discount and special perks during our stay. All thoughts belong to me and my husband and have not been influenced.

Ok, I’m loving this. And that answers my question about if places like this still exist! My parents live only about 20 minutes from The Poconos. I’m so in.

That looks like such a fun place to stay. It definitely looks like a 70’s time capsule, but I think it would be fun.

I like that they give you the brochure each day. It’s way better when you can decide at leisure, rather than feeling pressured. Everything looks great!

I had a friend who owned a timeshare in the poconos so we would use it when we lived in NY. I loved it there. She no longer owns it or I would be so taking another trip back.

I hope they never change the decor. It is so rare to find that totally epic cheesy decor in pristine shape as you describe. I always wanted to try that champagne glass tub and my only regret is that you didn’t get a shot in it!
