Ice Age: Collision Course Trailer:
Story Synopsis:
Your favorite ICE AGE heroes are back and cooler than ever in this all-new animated adventure that’s mammoth-sized fun for the whole family! Scrat’s epic pursuit of the elusive acorn catapults him into the universe, where he accidentally triggers a series of cosmic events that threaten the Ice Age world. Now the entire herd—including Buck, Manny, Ellie, Sid and Diego—must work together on a hilarious journey filled with nonstop action and colorful new characters, in order to survive the global Scrat-tastrophe!”
Lesson on Gravity:
I like to make our movie nights and event so what could be better than some science inspired fun! Since is a big part of this film and the kids don’t even realize that they are learning while laughing and having fun. In order to make some things funny in the film the science can get distorted as you will see in the next video. This type of exaggeration of the facts can lead to some interesting questions. Gravity is something we witness in this film. My boys are big science buffs and in the older range, but I needed help with this tip for you so they jumped in to help illustrate! I thought we would have a laugh and do an experiment with paint and gravity. You can take this one outside of course!
Items Needed:
Food coloring, water, Paper (I suggest a roll a white paper, not what I used.) and cotton balls.
Fill some cups with paint and water. Roll out your paper. Then soak the balls in the mixture. Next have the kids drop them from different heights and measure the splatter.
First time we dropped the ball standing up and on to the table.
Next I had my other son drop the ball to the ground from a standing position. He missed it-LOL! That’s why I suggest a large roll of paper especially with the littles!
Finally we tried dropping the ball from a chair. I used 3 pieces of paper this time!
We looked at all three examples and talked about which one had the later splat and why? Which one do you think would have a larger splat? Table, chair or standing? Here is some awesome information about gravity from Neil deGrasse Tyson.
