ZOKU Reusable Pocket Straw
In general I’d like to consider myself a “green” person, I recycle, carry a water bottle, and bring my own cup to the coffee place. I want to say that maybe 2 years ago or less the idea of plastic straws and the waste they cause came into play in the media. Honestly, I don’t know if I ever thought about it. The only time I had ever used a straw was at a drive-thru or maybe while I was out to eat. The kids and I were out at a local establishment and they had taken upon themselves to sell stainless steel straws. We bought them and I keep them in my glove compartment for drive-thru occasions. My kids felt proud of themselves for helping the environment in this tiny way. But there is more to the story…..
My son recently went on a field trip with his class and wanted to bring his straw with him. He was told no, but wanted to bring it anyway. He had no place to put it or keep it clean. The straw stayed home and he denied the plastic straw offered to him. Then I was sent this ZOKU Reusable Pocket Straw. It is a telescoping straw that folds and stores itself in a silicon container. The container has a loop so you can add it to your key chain, pants pocket, or purse easily. It is so small!
The compact size expands. You can fit this straw in any size drink. Plus it comes with a cleaning brush, so you can clean it wherever you might be. The brush is small so you can take it with you, but that is also my only con about this item. Personally I would prefer a larger brush. I don’t feel as if this small one is adequate enough. Well, a brush is better than no brush which is what I had before this one. The silicon mouthpiece is BPA and phthalate free.
