Out of all of the most forgotten about states in America, Vermont probably tops the list. As an extremely small state that is tucked into the northeastern corner, most people don’t pay any attention to the Green Mountain state. In fact, the only thing that most people know about Vermont is that several famous people like Bernie Sanders and the band Phish call the area home. However, Vermont has so much more to offer people. So what makes Vermont such a great state, and why is it so underrated? Let’s explore the amazing positives of Vermont.
Scenery
One of the best things about Vermont is the absolutely gorgeous scenery that is in the state. Vermont is full of gorgeous mountains and winding streams, providing the perfect backdrop for any commute. In addition, Vermont isn’t crowded with metropolitan areas, dig sites, or oil rigs, meaning that most of the state’s natural beauty is perfectly preserved. Getting out and enjoying the beauty of nature can be extremely relaxing and can open the door to activities like picnics and hiking trips. There’s almost no state in the country that can compare to Vermont’s natural beauty, which alone makes Vermont a fantastic place to live in or visit.
Safety
Crime often tends to happen in larger cities. Large cities have a large population and lots of businesses, making crime a much more lucrative option for potential criminals. Since Vermont is one of the smallest states in the country, it should come as no surprise that it has one of the lowest crime rates. Even with comparably small areas, Vermont still has a minuscule crime rate. As a result, Vermont residents can feel extremely safe in their homes and surrounding areas, as the likelihood of being a victim of a crime is extremely low.
Local Produce
Another fantastic aspect of Vermont is the amazing produce the state grows. Much of Vermont is mostly rural, with many families living off a farm-to-table lifestyle. These families grow all sorts of produce, including fruits like apples and vegetables like potatoes and sweet corn. Not to mention the local livestock and meat that Vermont produces. However, perhaps Vermont’s most famous product is its maple syrup, something that Vermont produces millions of gallons of. All of this local produce means that Vermont residents can enjoy healthy and fresh food that is locally grown, something that not all regions of the country can say.
Peace of Mind
When you live in a small state like Vermont, you don’t usually have to deal with massive crowds like you may see in L.A. and New York City. As a result, if you purchase one of the Burlington houses for sale, you’ll hardly ever experience traffic, and getting around will be a lot easier. When you don’t have tons of crowds everywhere you go, life becomes a lot more relaxing and peaceful. Some people may think that it’s boring to live in a location that has a lower population, but many others believe that small-town life provides peace of mind. In addition to less traffic and crowds, you also have other benefits like less light pollution and more spaced out housing. Both of these things give you some extra space and freedom, something that bigger states and cities may not be able to provide.
