When I received an invitation to visit Big Snow at the American Dream Mall, I jumped at the chance!! My family and I received a snow day package with rental and here is what we thought about it!
First, here is a little bit about Big Snow American Dream!
About Big Snow:
Big Snow American Dream is the first and only “real snow” skiing and snowboarding resort in North America. Yes, it has real snow! They use special snow making machines that spray a fine mist of cooled water into the air above their slopes. As the water droplets fall through the cold air in the dome, they freeze and turn to snow, just the same as they would falling through the sky outside. The slopes are 28 degrees Fahrenheit year-round.

Big Snow American Dream Review:
I’ll cut to the chase. We loved it! Let me tell you why it was fun. First of all, they try to make it a contactless experience to keep things COVID safe. You buy your tickets and rentals (if need them) online. Check in was easy and staff was friendly all around. Every single staff member we came into contact with on our visit was helpful and nice. The rentals were well organized. We picked up jackets, snowpants, boots, helmets, and skis. We brought our own gloves, but they were available to rent as well. It was smooth and quick. Lockers use a contactless scan bracelet to open and close. They are free to use during your visit.
Oh, it’s cold when you first walk in! Despite being in a mall, you get the feeling of being at a ski lodge. If you don’t ski you can purchase a spectator ticket to watch your family or friends. I’m a total ski novice so I stuck to the easy slopes. I was surprised at the amount of adults learning to both snowboard and ski. I felt comfortable and staff was attentive and encouraging. Big Snow also has a kids camp and offers lessons! It would have been so much easier for me to learn here than on the slopes. Maybe I’ll give snowboarding a try next!
There is a cafe on site for amazing hot chocolates, snacks, and drinks. You can also bring your own snacks and keep them stored in your locker. The American Dream mall also has a food court with many food and drink offerings for your family.
In a nutshell, you won’t regret your time at Big Snow! There is something for every level. My teenagers did not want to leave, and they had the opportunity to try a few new things. For this mom, I was able to check off “skiing indoors” on my 50 things before 50 list! Plus, I had a great time! Big Snow American Dream is open year round! Check it out!

When your kids turn 50 they’ll be hard pressed to come up with their own 50 Before 50 list as they’ve already experienced so much! What a childhood!
