Okay, so I didn’t think that this would be a big hit, but it saved me yesterday. My oldest son just finished Kindergarten and his teacher sent the kids home with a pen pal list. All the kids in his class that wanted to participate have their names, address’ and telephone numbers on the list. I honestly didn’t see my son wanting to write letters this Summer, but I was surprised.
In complete desperation yesterday of the “What can I do next?” question, my usual suggestions got the boot. Then he decided he just wanted to hang out with me. Ahh, which is usually fine, but I had a headache and was trying to get dinner ready. I thought for sure it would bomb, but when I pulled out the list with his friends names on it he was so excited. I gave him special writing paper and he just went at it. Not only was I surprised that he wanted to do this, but at well his writing had gotten.
We mailed the first 2 this morning and he already had 2 more ready today before camp. I also gave him a box of stickers so he could pick out 2 stickers for each of his friends. I hope this starts a ball rolling and he gets some back!
