That’s a picture of exactly what I have in my wallet right now. That doesn’t mean that I don’t have anything worth to give. I have a lot and so do you. On the last day of the January portion of the Blog Dare the writing prompt is, a few ways I can help someone out this year. In general I’m a generous person with my time. I volunteer at school for both of my son’s classes and I donate food on a regular basis to the food pantry. I’ve learned over the years that you don’t need money to help people out. There are several ways to help that won’t cost you anything, but your time. Let’s try to make this a year of giving and here’s how you can help, too!
1. Donate to your food pantry: I use coupons so this costs me very little or nothing. They will take food, cleaning products, formula and some even take school supplies and other items. help out your community.
2. Listen to a friend or stranger: Sure, you might not want to get involved in someones problems, but you can listen, just listen. Sometimes that’s all the help they need.
3. Buy Local: Everyone wins with this one. It might cost you a bit more, but you get so much back in return.
4. Volunteer: Whether it be at school, for a sports team, or a local park/town clean up.
5. Offer to do something for a friend: Pick something up at store, make a food item for their party, watch their kids, or even just stop by for a visit.
These are just a few suggestions that are basically free. It would be nice to be that person with a big wallet helping everyone out, but it’s that person with little wallet that dives in and gets the work done. It all works out. We all have the ability to help in one way or another.

It is so good to think about helping others, particularly because it can get us out of our own heads sometimes. Great ideas!
