I have probably a ton of stuff at my house that serves no purpose. Lately though, I’ve been thinking about my Annie collection. Yes, I’m coming out of the closet with this, I am a big Little Orphan Annie fan. I have well over a couple of hundred items, most new in packages. They are presently safely stored in containers in my attic. My boys still haven’t seen it yet. I’ve been waiting for us to finish working in the spare room and had planned to display my collection in there. The husband has announced that it will be his man cave and poor little Annie is not allowed. We’ll see about that when the time comes. Here is a sampling of some of the items I have:
- Halloween costume ( in box)
- Radio
- several bags, lunchboxes and a purse
- button maker, sticker books, paper dolls
- full set of miniature collectibles, several dolls, rag, vinyl, and porcelain
- Piggy bank, statues, music boxes
- board games, card games, books,LP,s
- a ton of toys!
Oh, and yes I even own an Annie wig! As a child I set up a museum in the Attic and would have people come and I would give them a tour. They would first have to sign this little book I had so I could keep track of my visitors. ( I still have that book as well.) My sibling’s friends still talk about it. Alas, it is all stored away from the world right now. Maybe the sun will come out tomorrow and I’ll have my show up and running in the spare room again.
For right now, this serves no purpose, except to bring back happy childhood memories!
Ethel says
God, something at home that serves no purpose, I will keep my mouth shut!
Walter says
I think it’s magical! They should make a movie about a grown up little girl and her Annie collection and how it inspired her innocent fantasies!
Susan Polifemo says
Is Walter really related to us?? Magical?!?!?! My dinner parties with college friends usually go like this “Hey remember when your sister used to make us sit thru her Annie collection over and over and made us sign the quest book?” We all did LOVE it when you would model the wig and costume!
AHHHHH the memories…….I can only hope that in our next life I’m the baby sister and make you and your friends sit thru my Elton John collection.. Costumes and all. Oh yeah and i will sing too!!
