I recently had a friend ask me why I workout? How come it’s always the simplest questions that don’t have a simple answer? Sure, there is the obvious – I want to lose weight and tone up, but I have more than just one goal. I remember not long ago in a land, far, far away I could eat and drink whatever I wanted and never even gain an ounce. Then sure enough it sneaked up on me like thief in the night and up two clothing sizes I went without me even noticing, until it was too late. Okay, so maybe two sizes is not the biggest deal, but that’s how it starts, this is where it could get out of control. So, what do I do? I workout. I sweat, hurt, hate it then I quit. Then I start again and again. One thing about working on myself that I realized is that it’s okay to stop and start again. I just need to keep going. It’s like that with everything. You can’t let failures or venomous friendships keep you from trying to work harder towards your goals. You aren’t going to make it every single time and that’s okay. The point is to never stop.
I want to do this because I want to prove to you my readers that you can do it too. You don’t need a gym, a trainer or a private chef ( Sure that would be nice.) all you need is the commitment to try to lead a healthier and better life. Maybe I did originally start working out to lose weight, but now I want more. I want to be healthy and have endurance. I want to not feel tired and depressed. I want you to realize that you have the power right inside of you to make choices for yourself. Do you want to depend on medication to lower your cholesterol or do you want to control it yourself? We have the cure to many diseases right before us. It’s in eating whole foods and exercising. You have to make the choice. I have made the choice to document my many starts and stops. I have also taken lots of slack for it, but I’m going to keep doing it. Maybe somewhere along the line I’ll find something that works for me. Somewhere, I hope you find something that works for you, too.
Project Me Update: Right now I’m on day 6 of the 30 Day Shred with Jillian Michaels. I had tried this workout before and it was tough. Although it’s still tough, I have built some endurance trying all these other programs and I now can do this workout. I’m going to start level 2 tomorrow because I don’t feel as if I sweat enough today. I feel better and even had one person tell me I look like I’ve been working out. Awesome! Wish me luck and I’ll keep you posted as always.
