We all know that kids say the funniest things. They also think quite differently than adults or do they? Today I caught a glimpse of what the future holds in store for me with my boys. It all began at the bank drive up window. Here is the scene: I pull up to make a simple transaction. I’m blocked by the tube so I cannot see the teller, but the boys can from their seats. She tells me, “Thank you, have a nice day your all set.” I begin to roll up my window and she says, “Wait. Let me send you something.” I open the tube and pull out two lollipops for my boys. I thank her and we pull out.
Involved Parties:
M: Me
O: Owen (6)
N: Noah (8)
As I’m pulling out this is what I hear:
O: That’s great we have to remember that trick for next time. I’m going to call it the lollipop trick.
N: I know it worked.
O: We’ll have to remember and try it again to see if it really works.
M: What are you 2 talking about? What lollipop trick?
The boys giggle.
O: Well, the last few times we came here we didn’t get lollipops so I made sure she saw me. I waved she waved back.
N: Then I waved and she waved back.
O: I smiled and rolled my window down and waved somemore.
N: I waved, too and smiled.
O: Then she sent us lollipops! Now I know, all I have to do to get a lollipop from one of those ladies is smile and wave. The lollipop trick!
N: It works!
