My husband and I started bringing our garbage to the dump last year to save some cash. We also began to take a good hard look how much recycling we do. While recycling is great, we also started to look at what can’t be recycled and are trying to change how we buy things. My biggest culprit though is paper recycling. I fill that bin in a matter of seconds.
Here are some suggestions on how to stop the paper flow.
Register HERE to stop unwanted junk mail and catalogues.
Stop your phone books from coming HERE.
Share copies of newspapers and magazines with friends. Or even better read them online. (I admit I still love my hard copy so I share)
Avoid printing out e-mails if possible.
Reuse the paper that you do use.
- Let the kids draw on the back of used paper
- I use my paper shredder to shred old documents and use them for packing or to stuff gift bags.
- cut it for scrap pieces to make lists, etc. ( I’m a note taker)
Try to keep track of what you are recycling and see where you can or need to cut back. Thanks for helping me green myself!
