What could be a better way to drum up some excitement over the August 26 release of Legends of OZ: Dorothy’s Return than a Sing Along Tour in NYC with The Holderness Family? I can’t think of anything better. The Holderness family of ” Xmas Jammies” fame and most recently “Baby got Class“, were on hand to lead the sing along featuring songs from the movie. I was able to spend a few moments with Penn, Kim, Lola, and Penn Charles before we boarded the bus.
The Holderness family are not just internet sensations starring in their own videos. Greenroom Communication is this family’s business. They do marketing, media management, videos, etc for clients. They admit that while it’s difficult to all be working together (the children have been with them all Summer) they are living their dream. Who else gets to come to New York and lead a sing along on a double decker bus? The sing along bus tour was their idea and so are the bus design and graphics. Their talent and creativity lies in many areas not just video. Kim even admitted that they have had clients wanting to work with them, but wanted to be sure that they (The Holderness Family) didn’t have to be in the video. ( Kim laughs at the thought.) The videos that they film with the family are for fun and for promotion of their skills and creativity. As a parent what impressed me the most is that while I was trying to ask questions their kids came first. Lola was upset by some garbage that blown by and was on the sidewalk, then Penn Charles tripped on the way back from picking up the trash and began to cry. As any parent would they attended to their children and left the spotlight graciously. When all was well we laughed about it because we’ve all been there as parents. It was refreshing to see these folks work, play and parent. This is a team that I’d hire.
Once on the bus the true fun began, honestly I’m not one for singing, but this was a blast! Microphones were placed throughout the top of the bus and as we toured the Big Apple we sang songs from Legends of Oz. Bryan Adams, known for his Academy Award nominated songs and being a singer/songwriter penned a few from this film. Lea Michele from Glee, Dan Akroyd, Martin Short, Jim Belushi, Patrick Stewart, Kelsey Grammar, and many more lend their voice to the characters in this feature. The songs were beautiful. Everyone was given songbooks and riders won prizes on the way. Penn Holderness was the perfect host for this ride. My family and I enjoyed ourselves. We couldn’t wait to watch the movie when we got home.
About Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return:
A new villain, the Jester, rules over Oz and Dorothy must return from Kansas to rescue her old friends. This animated film set to music is sure to be a family favorite! I honestly have to say that I was surprised that BOTH of my boys (ages 8 and 10) loved the movie! I’ve had a bit of, “I’m too big for that.” attitude around here. So, just knowing that speaks volumes when I say they liked it!. Legends of Oz is a fantastic family movie night film that you will enjoy time and time again. Lea Michele’s voice is enchanting as Dorothy.
