March certainly came in like a lion this year! First we had a storm that brought us an epic power outage and then we had the snowstorm of the century! I feel as if each had their place in my life and contributed to many worthwhile lessons. I can’t wait to find out if March will live up to its reputation and go out like lamb. I guess we will see!
This March I learned that:
10. eighth grade girls can be divas. (Wow, I forgot the wrath of a hormonal 14-year-old that feels she is above the common folk. OMG! This is when I get hit with a bit of reality, those times I volunteer at school. As my son says, “It’s glitter, perfume, and nasty.” Thank goodness this is only 1 out of a dozen of girls that are sweet as pie.)
9. I feel sorry for people who settle. ( When someone tells me, “That’s just how it is and you have to deal with it.” I feel sorry for them. I feel sorry that they can’t see that somethings are worth a fight or are worth walking away from if they are stagnant.)
8. I truly love meeting new people and talking about things that matter and not just the weather. ( I am horrible at small talk. Horrible. I am incredibly socially awkward about small talk, but talk to me about something important and I can go on for hours!)
7. people use the excuse, “I’m too old.” to keep them from actually learning or doing new things. ( It’s a cop-out. You are never too old to try something new, to learn, to do something you have never done before! It might be more difficult, but it is achievable.)
6. everyone needs some down time. ( Between the snow and things being cancelled, I have found the peace of just being. I need and want more of it.)
5. even when it’s your own personal choice people still take things personally. ( Listen, enough with the pants. You know what I’m talking about. I am not sorry for expressing my dislike of being tagged and being added to groups where people sell things I don’t buy. Ask me, just ask me. Oh, and I don’t care that you think leggings are pants, I don’t care if you think my clothes are uncomfortable, I don’t care if you wear peacocks on your ass. It’s not my ass. So, enough. Say hi and let your proud peacock fly!)
4. there are going to be people who you are just stuck with for part of your life. ( In order to make life a bit less uncomfortable you might have to be polite to a few people who you might not otherwise be friends with just for peace.)
3. since the election in November I have become more involved in our government. ( I feel much more connected to the world around me because of it. I’m an emailing, letter sending, phone calling, marcher, and I will persist! )
2. I have let things go that are important to me. ( I have boxes of pictures and videos all in storage and out-of-order. I have memories in boxes of things I don’t remember. I’m not liking this, so the husband and I have been going through old videos and putting things together. The kids have been having a blast watching videos of themselves when they were babies! Do it! Save those memories people!)
1. I think I finally got there! That moment when someone disappoints you, the moment when someone judges you, that moment when you just don’t care because you are confident in yourself. ( If you are disloyal, that means you have no true friends. If you judge, that means you don’t have the foresight to see that there might be another way to do things. I hope this feeling lasts for me and I hope that someday you find your peace too.)

March has been a little bit of both a lion and lamb for me. The Lion was in the beginning – so much going on with work and with my kids. Now it’s like a lamb, slowing down just a bit for me to catch my breath and get ready to dive in again.

Love the lessons you learnt, especially the one about settling. Only settle if you are happy. This is your life and you have to shape it the way you love it. Never settle for less! X

I agree with you, never too old to learn things! Granted I am only 37 and already I feel things getting harder to learn and it is so annoying as I am a geek who loves learning! I will not however give up! I hope your April brings many wonderful things and more things to learn! P.S. I just learned I like leggings…. I am not tiny…. I don’t care. They feel amazing. Life is short, I am going to feel amazing. LOL

“I don’t care if you wear peacocks on your ass. It’s not my ass. So, enough. Say hi and let your proud peacock fly!” LoL, OMG I love you!! I promise to never ask you to feel my leg again =)

March has been crazy for me. I have learned to not stress out when plans change at the last minute. Nothing I can do about it and I just need to go with the flow.

I loved this! So many true points. Especially the photos. I’ve done nothing with all my photos and videos in years. Thanks for the motivation to get it done!

March fro me started out wonderful but has ended with some life alternating news. I am still processing a lot of it. Oh and yes eighth grade girls can totally be divas.

Totally agree with you that you need some time to yourself.
I normally work a ton of hours so even if it’s just 20 min to myself I totally cherish every minute!

I love this and yes, you are never too old to learn new things or experience things in life that you haven’t before. March has been good to us. We needed a month like this.

March has been pretty quiet for us. We did a lot of travelling for the first few months of the year. It is nice to be home for a while.

March has been a lion for me! It’s been a whirlwind of crazy. Mostly good crazy, but some meh….
I totally agree that saying “I’m too old” is a total copout.

I agree with you on #9 100%. I can’t stand to hear someone say well it is what it is. March has been great for me, hoping it is a sign for April!

I completely agree with #6. I work two jobs, 7 days a week. I always try to schedule 1 full weekend off a month. March has been pretty quiet for me. Nothing new, nothing interesting. I’m hoping the rest of the year picks up! Looking forward to what the summer has in store.

Ohhhh, 8th grade girls! I can tell spring has sprung in my classroom. The boys are getting sillier and the girls are getting meaner. Good luck to us both!

These are important lessons. All though I have to admit I am sometimes one of the ones that settles. 🙁
