Let’s just get one thing straight, I’m so glad that winter is coming to a close and the weather has been warmer, but Spring for the most part is ugly. Waiting for the bus with my son this morning I had a strong urge to grab a rake and start cleaning up the disaster that I call my yard. Reminders of how neglectful we had been in the Fall and how strong the last snowstorm was are all around me. I didn’t feel renewed, I felt overwhelmed.
This is what Spring is all about isn’t it?. Renewal, a second chance, another time to set right what was wrong or damaged by forces beyond out control. I push that aside and I see rainboots filled with mud, hours of raking and picking up dead branches. Oh- the weeds- I have to get a jump on them this year. I’m torn. I had been waiting for this moment to get my hands dirty, but so much from the long winter indoors is still left undone. I question myself – am I really up for the challenge.
