Day 20: 30 Day Photo Challenge
A Picture of Somewhere You’d like to Travel to.
Let’s just get something straight- I’d like to go everywhere! If I have to point something out right now I’ll say the castles of Germany! It’s like right out of a story book. Disney has nothing up on this! Real life castles, royality, knights- the stuff of legends.
If you have ever visited a castle, I wonder if you have felt as I have in one. It’s almost like the walls speak to you and if you close your eyes you can see the grand days of the past. The energy from these places are intense. I could get lost in my imagination in one. It’s amazing.
There usually is a love story involved and that just real puts me over the edge!

I've been to that one in the photo and it is stunning on the inside. Right near it is the more famous Neuschwanstein castle – the one that Disney based it's fairy tale castle on. Both these castles were built by the tragic King Ludwig II of Bavaria. His life was so full of turmoil, loneliness and longing. His closest friend was his cousin, Elizabeth, the Empress of Austria who was stabbed to death by an anarchist in Switzerland. Movies and a very popular European musical have been written about her. Ludwig was an eccentric. He loved poetry and beauty and spent way too much time and money on those pursuits. He was deposed as being mentally unstable (without being examined) and supposedly died the next day although many believe he was murdered. There is a huge Hollywood movie in there that hasn't been made yet. Did I mention that he was almost certainly gay and he had to struggle reconciling that with his Catholicism and his position as King all his rough life.
