Recently, I received a Haute Polish Gel Nail Starter Kit to try out. As a busy mom of two, I rarely have time to do my nails let alone get my nails done in a salon. I also hate people touching my fingernails. I know, but it’s one of those things with me. Then add on to that, the smell that comes from a nail salon. It’s not a wonder why they wear masks when working on nails. Now that the gel nail craze is happening I was curious to see if the hype is true. can I really have polished nails for two weeks? Can I do them myself at home? Most polishes last this mom a day or two so I don’t even bother. Here is a little bit about Haute Polish.
About Haute Polish:
Haute Polish, a DIY nail gel system, is one of the first healthy alternatives to salon gels. Haute Polish is acetone, formaldehyde and solvent free. This formula offers expecting mothers a toxin free way to achieve salon quality nails at home. For women who are not able or willing to go into the salon during their pregnancy, Haute Polish is an easy one-step application that pampers without the harmful fumes.
My Review:
Honestly, I didn’t know much about gel nails before I received this kit. I knew that they were suppose to last long and I had heard other things like, they damage your nails and the polish is hard to remove. If polish can stay on me it’s a miracle so let me give this a whirl. Since Haute Polish doesn’t contain some of the harmful ingredients found in most gel polishes I wasn’t too worried. Here is what I liked and didn’t like about it:
Like:
It did last! A miracle and I love it! I actually feel stylish and beautiful having my working mommy nails done. It may sound silly, but I know some you out there get it. It dries under the LED light in 60 seconds. Yes, it’s that quick. I was able to do my nails and be ready to go in minutes. When I removed the polish my nails were fine and healthy looking underneath. I did not use the remover included in the package. I just peeled the polish off. Yes, I discovered that I could just peel the polish off after I hit my hand against the wall and my entire fingernail of polish just feel off. ( Not my nail just the polish!)
Dislikes:
The polish was very thick and I wasn’t sure how much to put on. It is a different consistency than regular nail polish. I did have to apply 3 coats of polish to get the color that I wanted. Even after that I still didn’t get the classic red look I was after, I’ll keep trying. The Haute Polish LED Talking Light gives you directions to follow, but I was unable to turn the voice off and it was annoying. You are suppose to hold the button for 5 seconds, but it just kept turning completely off. I know that it works because my friend used it and she was able to get the voice to stop, but not me.
Overall:
Overall, I like it. I love having nails polished and chip free. It really has helped this mom bring her sexy back! Plus I can do it myself. It has no toxic odors and it comes in 20 colors, with new colors coming soon. It’s also affordable.

though I am one of those weirdos who enjoys the smell of a nail salon, I rarely go to get my nails did. The last time, though (8 mos ago) I got gel ones w/the gel polish & I loved it! After a few weeks, I started playing around w/the color & discovered that you can paint over it & use acetone polish remover & it won’t destroy the gel color!
