Do you know a kid that hasn’t jumped on the rubber band looming trend? I sure don’t. My kids were anxious to give the Sunshine Loom a try.
So, what’s different about this loom compared to others? The Sunshine Loom is the first and only circular loom created to weave rubber band projects. There are also close to 100 instructional videos online to help your kids create new and exciting projects. I love creative crafting that kids can be excited about, especially in this digital age we live in.
What’s even more special about Friendly Bands, is the company’s visionary and creator, Jessica, whom founded FriendlyBands in 2011, when she was just 8 years old.
The Review:
Now although my son was anxious to try it, it was an epic fail. We tried watching the videos, but the hook seemed to be challenging for him. He’s 8 and probably hasn’t used a loom in months. My other son and I tried and we did worse than my 8 year old. I needed to call in the professionals.
I delivered the Sunshine Loom to a couple of experts. ( 8 and 10 years old) These girls know about working with rubber bands and creating jewelry. Here is what the experts had to say:
The hook proved to be a challenge, but once it was mastered crafting a bracelet became a piece of cake. Watching the videos certainly helped. Personally, I love how the top doubles as a storage container for the rubber bands.
“The girls like the measurement scale that is outlined on the loom. They said it is very helpful to know when to stop. The videos are easy to follow on the website. The charms were easy to add . We recommend starting with the simple band first and working your way up otherwise you will get frustrated. Some of the girls on their videos said to just pull up side to side to release the band and when we did one of the pegs popped right out! Good for a chuckle! It easily went back in!”
That’s exactly what happened with my son. He started with the triple band and became frustrated. Good tip from the ladies!
