Cave Tools Quick Dry Salad Spinner #CaveTools #Review

I’m not usually a big fan of single-purpose kitchen gadgets. I make an exception for my salad spinner. There’s nothing worse than splashing water all over the counter while washing floppy lettuce, excess water running off the cutting board, and the dressing sliding off soppy greens and pooling at the bottom of the salad bowl. And not every salad spinner is created equal. This week I had the opportunity to try out the Quick Dry Salad Spinner by Cave Tools.

The Quick Dry Salad Spinner has a large bowl and basket and locking lid with straining slot. The bottom has four rubber nubs to limit sliding provide stability. The spinning knob is comfortable to grasp and sits in the lid to help avoid instability as well. Overall, it’s a great product that performs it’s job very well and has earned its spot in my limited cupboard space. Here are the tests I put it through and the recipe I used from the included digital copy of “Salad Essentials For The Busy Parent”.

Since autumn is in the air, I was looking for a hearty dinner for Football Sunday. Venison Stew with a Spaghetti Squash Harvest Garden Salad made the menu. To see if the Quick Dry Salad Spinner was up to heavy-duty tasks, I used it to rinse and spin a pound of radishes for the stew. Did you know that radishes are an amazing low-carb alternative to potatoes!? Weird, but true and delicious! I didn’t use the straining lid with the radishes since it was easy to pour off the dirty water. I spun the clunky little veggies with no issues at all. It didn’t get thrown off-balance by the weight, and the radishes were nearly dry when I finished. Secondly, I wanted to try something with more nooks and crannies, so I filled the basket with kale. I rinsed in the spinner again, and I used the strainer so i wouldn’t lose any leaves. The locking lid and strainer work perfectly together. Again, the vegetables came out without excess droplets, even with all of the grooves in the greens.

Since I had success with two “tough” vegetables, I wanted to see how the spinner would handle something more tender like herbs. “Salad Essentials For The Busy Parent” has a recipe for Spaghetti Squash Harvest Garden Salad that sounds fantastic and has fresh basil, oregano, and parsley. Since the oregano leaves are so small, I just used the spinner for the basil and parsley. By this time, C wanted to check out the new gadget, and he was able to use it easily as well. Once again, almost all of the water was pulled off the leaves. They were not battered and kept their shape well.

Overall, I’m very impressed by the quality, versatility, and function of the Quick Dry Salad Spinner by Cave Tools. It will make a great addition to your kitchen tool collection!

But even more than food, I love spending time with my family, whether it’s on the football field, baking cookies at home or going to mommy and me class. We adore traveling to see our relatives around the country, especially in Montana and Hawaii. I will make it to Europe one of these days, and I consider my only regret in life that I don’t have more stamps in my passport~

We have a salad spinner. One day, recently, my hubby was feeling too lazy to pull it out, so he put the lettuce in a towel and spun it over his head — water went everywhere! UGH! He learned his lesson.

I love ours because my daughter can help in the kitchen without me needing to supervise too closely. She is a salad spinning pro (hubby should remember that). 🙂

A good salad spinner is important! My mother-in-law makes the best salads and she told us this is why. So she gave us one for our wedding!

I’ve always been on the fence over buying a salad spinner. It takes up precious cabinet space and would I actually use it? After reading this, I’m pretty sure it would be a worthwhile addition to my kitchen.
