When I was sent a copy of Your No Fear Career for review, I avoided picking it up for a while. As a full-time stay at home and part-time blogger I didn’t know if I would be able to relate to this book. I found out that I was wrong and THIS book was the jumpstart that I needed to overcome my fear of being a full-time blogger and writer. I might have taken longer than expected to do this review, but I was (and still am) being fed by the information that Robin shares with us.
About Your No Fear Career:
Business can be alluring, but like the jellyfish it can also sting. There are demanding clients, bosses who bully, conniving competitors, impossible deadlines, advancing technology and people who play politics. It seems that fear, mistrust, anxiety and feeling overwhelmed run through the veins of business leaders at every level. Running on a hamster wheel, we try to find our place in the fastest changing market the world has ever known. Unfortunately, many of us don’t have the ability to thrive on change, so we go around and around until we become irrelevant and get discarded. The courageous among us don’t ask “Why is this happening to me?” They declare, “This is happening for me!”
LEARN HOW TO LEAD FEARLESSLY
In her fourth book, Robin Fisher Roffer teaches readers through personal stories how to navigate their career fearlessly, push through adversity and shed what no longer works. Whether you are in fashion or dentistry, an artist or a CEO, Roffer’s proven tools clarify your true purpose and empower you to set goals that will transform your career, and your life.
My Thoughts:
I feel as if this book was written just for me. I have been going back and forth about my career options. I have been unclear about what I want versus what I need. I have been unable to answer the simple question of “What makes you happy?” that friends have asked. This book isn’t just about navigating your way around the workforce, but a guide on conquering it. Through real-life examples Robin offers a different perspective that can help anyone regardless of what career path they are on or working towards. Some of the chapters titles are,Quiet Your Inner Judge, Get Your Swagger Back, and Get Off the Hamster Wheel. She has you asking yourself tough questions to help guide you in an authentic and inspiring manner in your journey to better your career or even discover a new one. Personally, I have started using this book as a guide-book to help me with my needs. So, stay tuned as I re-brand my blog!
Final thoughts: Even if you believe that you are “living your dream” job, this book is worth a read. I also would think that it would make a great gift for college age students as they begin to make their way into the work force. I plan on picking up more reads from Robin Fisher Roffer!
